The Loyola College club tennis team was started in the fall of 2005 by
Stephanie Coyle and Chris Morgan, because there were so many students
who played tennis, but were not interested in the intense practice and
match schedule the varsity team required. The club has provided these
students an organized, competitive, and most importantly fun way to stay
involved with tennis. With great interest shown by the student body, the
club was able to put together a strong first year team comprised of
dedicated athletes. The team was officially adopted by The Loyola
College Club Sports Department, which has provided funding,
transportation to matches, and a great deal of support.
Although the team suffered some hardships their first year, such as
gaining contact with other schools, the season was considered to be a
success. With the support of the USTA and Club Sports Department at
Loyola, the club was not only able to recruit players on campus, but
also began to play competitively against area schools. This year, the
club looks forward to continued success through building a stronger
team, and competing in a numerous matches.
