Texas A&M beats Texas 23-21 in an Instant Classic

When Texas and Texas A&M square off in club tennis, both teams know it'll be a tough test. And this one didn't dissapoint.

When most teams get together to play a match, they usually don't play more than 20 matches or so. These two teams played 44. Breaking it down, that's 14 Men's Singles, 14 Women's Doubles, 8 Men's Doubles, and 8 Women's Doubles.

A&M started out strong in doubles, winning 10 matches. However, there were still 28 singles matches left. On the men's side, Texas took 8 matches. The women's matches were split down the middle 7-7, giving Texas A&M, a 23-21 win.

"In possibly the biggest duel meet in club history, A&M took a thrilling win by two matches that came down to the wire," says George Chen, Texas's Team Coordinator.

Both teams are gearing up for the Texas Campus Championships, scheduled for March 9th-11th at the McFarlin Tennis Center. They may just see some familiar faces.
