November Tournament Recap

November brought a lot of the top teams out to play in open and invitational tournaments throughout the country. Here’s a recap:


November 3rd-5th

Badger Classic: 27 Teams came out to the Badger Classic, and Miami and Wisconsin Red ended up in the final. Unfortunately they were only able to complete the mixed doubles, which Miami won 6-3. Wisconsin Club Tennis President Andy Rebhun says, "It was really a fantastic tournament. As this is our first time hosting a tournament of this size magnitude we have determined the strengths and weaknesses and look forward to hosting this again next year. Click here for standings.


Gator Bowl: Rain complicated things a little bit at the 2006 Gator Bowl, but they were able to get most of the matches in. On the men's side, Georgia and Florida made it to the final, but weren't able to complete the match. In the Men's Consolation, Central Florida B and Florida B also made it to the final. Georgia also made it to the finals of the Women's Draw, and were supposed to face Central Florida. Central Florida did get some consolation, as UCF-B won the Women's Consolation. Houston Regional: The University of Texas had a great tournament as they took 1st and 2nd place at the Houston Regional. 24 teams competed, as they had consolation brackets for everybody. Click here for standings.


November 11th-12th

Crimson Indoor Championships: Four teams competed in the Crimson Indoor Classic. The teams played a round robin format and based the final standings on total games won. Georgia came out on top with 120 games, with Valdosta State coming in 2nd. Click here for standings.


November 18th-19th

USTA Virginia Fall Tennis Invitational: 21 teams came out to the VA Invitational. They started out with pool play, where they had 7 pools of 3. Out of that, they moved on to championship play, where both Colorado teams advanced to the final. Colorado A ended up beating Colorado B in the final 4-1. They both beat Georgetown's A and B team in the semi-finals. Rounding out the top 8 were UNC-Greensboro A, Maryland B, UNC-Charlotte, and Villanova A. Click here for standings.
