Graduating Seniors: Stay Involved

Graduating from college can mean a lot of changes. Giving up tennis doesn’t have to be one of them.

Going from college to the real world can be a big adjustment. You have to find a job, get a place to live, and budget your spending among many other things. Gone are the days where you were representing your school playing club tennis at Sectional and National Championships. But there’s no saying that you should quit tennis, just because you graduate. Here are some things that can keep you in the game:

Get a job in the tennis industry. For more information, visit this article.

Volunteer. The USTA offers plenty of volunteering opportunities wherever you go. And since club tennis is only on its way up, they need people to help out with growing the programs. Whether you end up in Texas, Oregon or New York, the USTA could use your help. Such things include being a volunteer club tennis coach, helping to post fliers around a campus to start a program and even serving on a collegiate committee. Contact your section for details.

Play League Tennis. It used to be that once you graduated, the only way you could play competitive tennis was through tournaments. With USTA League Tennis, you can join a team and play against other teams regardless of the level you are at. Who knows, maybe one day you can captain a team to the National Championships once again?

As a parting note, thank you for being involved with club tennis. I hope that you continue to be involved whether it be through playing, working or volunteering.
