March Campus Championship Previews

February's Section Championships brought a couple upsets. Will March be the same way? Let's take a look at some of them:

March 1st-2nd

Texas: Texas is looking to draw a huge number of teams to it's tournament, so anything's possible. However, when Texas and Texas A&M are in the draw, it's usually a two-team affair, and it looks like it might be that way this year two with both ranked #1 and #2 in the country. Texas State and UTSA have done pretty well though and could contend. SMU may also make a run, as they are a top 30 team. A&M looks to bring 10 teams though, so we should see a number of those teams in the top bracket.

Southern: Most Southern schools attended UGA's Bulldawg Blackout Bash, which just about went according to rank. Georgia and Georgia Tech are top contenders. Georgia won that tournament, as well as being the finalist at the Fall Brawl, and winning a few dual matches. Georgia Tech is the defending champion and took the title at their home tournament in the fall. NC State should also be a team to watch. They won the Fall Brawl (over Georgia in the final) and were finalists in at the Blackout Bash. Other dark horse contenders include Elon, Clemson, Alabama, Duke and UNC.

Florida: Despite not being as big as some of the the other Sections, Florida bring a few powerhouse teams. UF is always strong and ranked #3 in the country. Central Florida is another school with great depth and should contend with UF for the title. Don't count out South Florida, who some in the Sunshine Statee say is one of the most improved teams in the country.

March 16th-17th

Intermountain: Teams from across the mountain states will travel to Las Vegas to compete. #6 Colorado has been the perennial winner here and things don't look to be much different. One of the most travelled teams this year, they started out taking 4th place in the Fall Brawl, then won the Pioneer Invitational, and took 3rd at the Badger Classic. Look for Denver and Colorado State to contend though, as they had a strong fall.
